Dyslexia FAQ’s

Whether you’re just starting the evaluation process or looking for specific details on our sessions, the FAQ section is designed to provide the transparency and support your family deserves.

  • Because every brain is wired differently, there is no "magic number" of sessions. Literacy is a journey, not a quick fix. Generally, significant and lasting changes in reading and spelling take time—often 18 to 36 months of consistent instruction. Our goal is to work ourselves out of a job by giving your child the independence to succeed without us.

  • Consistency is the key to "rewiring" the neural pathways for reading. We typically recommend three-four sessions per week. This frequency provides enough repetition to prevent "forgetting" between sessions while maintaining a manageable schedule for your family.

  • While a formal diagnosis of dyslexia is helpful for school accommodations, it is not required to begin therapy with us. If your child is struggling with phonics, spelling, or slow, labored reading, they can benefit from our structured literacy approach immediately.

  • Yes. School interventions are often done in small groups and may focus on "leveling" or "clues." At Dyslexify M.I.N.D.S., we provide 1-on-1, intensive, Structured Literacy. We get much deeper into the "why" of the English language than a typical school setting has the time or resources to provide.

  • We track data during every single session. You will receive regular progress reports showing exactly which skills your child has mastered. However, the first sign parents usually notice isn't a test score—it’s a boost in confidence. When a child stops saying "I will never get this," and starts saying "I can do this," we know we are on the right track.

  • It is never too late. While early intervention is ideal, the brain remains "plastic" (changeable) throughout life. Older students often make rapid progress because they have the cognitive maturity to understand the complex logic of language we teach.

  • We cater to all areas of the world! Although we are located in Texas, we provide our services to charter schools & private schools, homeschool cooperatives, university disability services, early childhood centers, neuropsychology practices, and pediatric therapy clinics.
